This New Seabury home needed some real attention on the outside. The existing deck boards had seen years of Cape weather - fading, staining, and that worn-out look that no amount of cleaning really fixes. The entry steps were weathered wood that had gone gray and rough. And the old sliding doors? They were doing the job, but just barely.
We came in and handled it all in one scope. Two new Andersen sliders went in - one off the main living area and one off what appears to be a dining space. These are wide, clean units with crisp white frames that sit flush with the interior trim and let a ton of natural light pour in. From inside, the connection to the deck feels completely open. That's the difference a quality slider makes - it's not just a door, it's how the whole back of the house feels.
For the deck, we went with Azek TimberTech in the Coastline color. This is a capped composite product built specifically for coastal climates. It handles moisture, UV, and salt air without warping, cracking, or needing to be stained every couple of years. The front porch and entry landing both got the same treatment - so every surface underfoot is now consistent, clean, and dialed in for the long haul.
The entry steps are a before-and-after story all on their own. The old wood steps were dark, rough, and starting to look like a liability. The new steps are solid, properly built, and match the fresh aesthetic of the rest of the exterior. It's a small thing that makes a big first impression every time someone walks up to the front door.
Cape homes take a beating from the elements, and the ones that hold up well are the ones with the right materials installed the right way. Composite decking and well-built Andersen doors are exactly that kind of long-term thinking. If your deck or doors are overdue for an upgrade, this is the kind of work we do every day.
